Upon successful completion of this module, you will be able to:

Chapter 12

Describe factors that influence surgical outcomes. (CO 1,2)
Identify the role of the licensed practical nurse/licensed vocational nurse (LPN/LVN) in each perioperative phase.(CO 1o, 2)
Explain the role of the LPN/LVN in obtaining informed patient consent. (CO 1n,2)
Develop a teaching plan to enhance learning for the older preoperative patient. (CO 2)
Describe the role of the home health care nurse in caring for the postoperative patient.
Identify S&S and nursing interventions used for common post-operative complications

Explain the pathophysiology and compensatory mechanisms of shock.(CO 1,3)
Identify the etiology and signs/symptoms for each of four categories of shock.(CO 1,3)
