3.1 Submit a Canvas Assignment

Canvas allows for many different assignment types. In this guide you will learn how to turn in a typical Canvas Assignment.

Access Assignment

You can access the Assignment by clicking the name of the Assignment. There are various ways that you can locate an Assignment.

Modules

In most situations, the assignments are available as Module items.

Assignments

Some instructors prefer to house all assignments on the Assignments Index page.

Submit Assignment

After clicking the name of the Assignment, you will want to choose your upload method. Canvas offers three primary methods for uploading/submitting assignments.

Text - This feature allows students to type their assignments directly into Canvas and submit it with a click of a button.

Upload - This feature allows students to upload documents like Word Docs and PDFs directly from their computers.

Canvas Studio - This feature allows students to upload/record video assignments for submission. Please see this video for additional information.

More - This feature links Canvas to Google Apps and students can automatically import their Google Docs. 

Click the Submit Assignment button on the top-right.

 

After you finished typing/uploading, you need to click the Submit Assignment button at the bottom of the page.
