Module 1: 1/17 - 2/11 (weeks 1-4)

Welcome to Module 1

Welcome everyone to EXS 101. I know some of you are already on your way to becoming a personal trainer. In this course, we review the components of fitness in detail and learn assessment methods for flexibility, body composition, muscular strength and endurance, and cardiorespiratory (aerobic) endurance.

Because this is an online class, you will be doing the assessments on your own. I'll provide the information and support you need. If you know someone in class, you are welcome to partner with them. Otherwise, you will need to find another healthy friend, or spouse, or sibling to assess.

For week 1 (1/17 - 1/21), please do the introduction video & read the JAMA article. We will jump into Chapter 1 next week. Also, please start to consider who you may work with this semester to do the fitness assessments. It must be the same person throughout the semester.

In this module, we will cover chapters 1, 3, and 4 in the ACE Personal Training Manual, 6th Edition, 2020.
