Course Description
This survey course traces the history of the United States from the age of exploration to the end of the era of Reconstruction. Students will explore the major developments in American politics, religion, culture, slavery, and society in the context of the Colonial Period, the American Revolution, and the Early Republic. Students will examine aspects of the economic and territorial expansion of the early and mid-Nineteenth Century, and delve into the dramatic events of the American Civil War.
