In this Module, we will define public health, locally and worldwide. We will see how being sure that when public health is available for all, it really benefits all. We will see the benefits of having a healthy population, and exactly how we can measure health outcomes and see why certain trends will predict who might die from common infectious and chronic diseases.

Module Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this module, you will be able to:

Identify the components of population and public health. (CLO: 1)
Discuss the global application of population health. (CLO: 1,3,4, 6)
Explain the public health system’s role in addressing population health needs and how public health security benefits a healthy population. (CLO: 1, 4, 5 ,6)
Explain the purpose of measuring health outcomes and priorities in the United States. (CLO: 4,5 6)
