Welcome to Module 2

In this module, we will discuss the characteristics of underrepresented populations, and how racism has been present throughout the history of the US. We will discuss why we need more doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers who are diverse. We need to look at how costs affect consumer behavior and how changes in the population challenge public health policies and ultimately how the availability of health care services influences the behavior of people as consumers of healthcare.

Module Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this module, you will be able to:

Discuss characteristics of underrepresented populations, and how structural racism has been present throughout the history of the U.S. (CLO: 11)
Examine how projected population changes challenge public health policies and the implications for health care services. (CLO: 1,2,3,8,12)
Examine how the availability of health care services influences consumer behavior. (CLO: 1,3,11,12)
Explain how the cost of health care services affects consumer behavior, and how it can advance cost-effective health solutions. (CLO: 1,3,4,5,11,12)
Discuss the lack of diversity among the health care workforce and its impact on client care. (CLO: 2,3, 6,11,12)
