All of our online courses use this format so that you know how to get started and easily work your way throughout your course. 

Our online courses always begin with the Start Here module, which includes a Welcome page, QC Technical page, Student Introduction and FAQ Discussion.

In order to teach online at QC, all faculty must complete our online training. This training focuses on the Quality Matters Links to an external site. Standards, Canvas and TechSmith Knowmia/Relay Links to an external site.. Our faculty are also trained how to use Zoom to connect with you during scheduled online class sessions or 1:1 support.

This sample online course will show you what to expect when taking an online course at Quincy College. All online courses use our QC Online Course Template to ensure that the overall design of every course is consistent and easy for you to follow. 

We want you to know what to expect so that you can succeed from the beginning. Your success is important to us!

Our online courses come complete with the course syllabus. The course syllabus will provide you with the course objectives, explanations of assignments and assessments, grading policies, and instructor contact information. Please read it carefully. You should have a deep familiarity with the schedule and process of the course.

Textbooks

  • Course textbooks, publisher materials and optional materials are listed right on this Welcome page and on the course syllabus.
  • Our instructors work with our QC Bookstore: Barnes and Nobles to make sure that you have all of the course materials to help you succeed throughout the course. 

References 

Our online courses give you a reference list of the materials used in the course, including instructor-created materials.  It provides a good example of the reference format required for your course and models the academic integrity expected by QC students. 

Third-Party Software

We take your privacy and security seriously. During your course, you might have the opportunity to use public online services and/or software applications sometimes called third-party software such as a blog or wiki. While some of these could be required assignments, you should not provide personal information about yourself or your classmates on a public site. Where appropriate, you may use a pseudonym or nickname. Some written assignments posted publicly may require personal reflection/comments, but the assignments will not require you to disclose any personal information. If you have any concerns about this process, please contact your instructor.
