I am revising what I had written here before. I am sorry about the confusion.
I was referring to the videos which are in the category called "Video Activity" in the MindTap chapters.
In these videos, you have access to the transcript, to the outline, and to key words. You are asked to watch the video, and you are asked 4 questions, and you are supposed to respond, based on your watching of the videos, and you analytical ability. After you input your written responses and submit them, you should receive a more detailed responsive explanation to each question.
You can see in the notes to each speech that there are key words (speech communication terms) which are associated with each speech. This is where we should be searching those words in the Glossary icon, and also using them as search terms with the Magnifying Glass icon of the textbook. That will bring us to various places in the textbook that further elaborate on these concepts. In this way, you will be building up your awareness and knowledge of key concepts of speech communication.
When you watch speakers on TV, the Web, or even your instructors in your college classes, I would hope you would be thinking of some of these concepts you are learning from the Video Library and from the Textbook, and thinking how they apply to speech performance by others who see and listen to, in the real world and in the world of media.
And then, as you go through the process of preparing, practicing, and presenting your own speeches, I hope you will be thinking of ways to incorporate those concepts and techniques into your course. And, Classmates, those of you who are observing as your classmate delivers a speech, you should be thinking of these concepts when you provide feedback.
