Hi, Everyone!
While we're figuring out access to Cengage's MindTap and "The Speaker's Handbook," I thought we ought to jump right in and record some videos. Let's do that!
Please record a video in Canvas Studio. You can do it from your computer, or from your smartphone. Please try to make the video at least 2 minutes long, but you can go up to 5 minutes. Please speak about your sense of yourself as a speaker, but in personal, communicative interactions with family and friends, and in public settings, such as schools, and also as a presenter, to a group (i.e., a public speaker, such as a student presenting to the class, or speaking at a public event such as a commencement, or in a debate). Please speak about all the elements which you are aware of which go into speaking. How do you evaluate public speakers? What criteria do you apply? You can analyze in further detail some of the speakers you admire. If you have access to the Handbook already, please bring in any of the aspects of speaking that have come to your attention.
In Canvas Studio, there is both the CC and the Comments features. Please activate both of these, then import your video into this graded Discussion. You can use the Studio icon, in blue. There are tutorials for Canvas available in the icons to the left of your screen.
I'm looking forward to learning more about your understanding of the elements of public speaking, as well as seeing your performative abilities as a speaker on video.
