This course meets on campus according to the schedule posted above. The majority of the course content will be delivered through lectures and other activities conducted during class meetings. Online resources may be used to supplement the textbook or provide interaction with the content and/or assessment. The course will also have a Canvas page that contains the class syllabus, handouts, and important information (particularly in the event of a weather or emergency closing).
INSTRUCTIONAL METHODOLOGIES
Slides, videos, demonstrations, hands-on practice with computer concepts, simulations, and discussions are used to help students learn concepts and acquire skills. Besides utilizing the textbook, students may be required to perform online research on relevant topics. As new material will be presented during on-campus lectures, those lectures are mandatory.

Assignments consist of Questions, Quizzes, and Simulations. Questions may include discussions as well as other types of questions. Quizzes include the end of chapter quizzes. Simulations require completing steps in a simulated Microsoft Office environment. All assignments must be submitted in electronic format either via MyLab and Mastering or directly in Canvas online. Each assignment is allotted a certain number of points, which varies from assignment to assignment and may be determined when graded. Extra credit may be provided for all students at the instructor's discretion. The 2 Exams are each scored on a 100-point scale.
PLAGIARISM AND CHEATING
Students may briefly discuss topics relevant to assignments; however, collaborative work is not allowed in this course. Thus, students needing more extensive help should seek assistance from the instructor or a qualified tutor. Specifically, copying text or any other kind of work without proper citation is plagiarism. Using reference material when not allowed is cheating. Any instance of plagiarism or cheating will result in a zero on that assignment or exam for all parties involved, whether the student is the one copying or the one providing the material. This includes sharing solutions after the due date since students may be allowed to turn in late work. Students that carelessly make their own work available to others (e.g., by leaving it on shared computers or drives) may be penalized when this leads to a case of plagiarism or cheating. For all students involved in cases of plagiarism or cheating, an academic incident report will be filed with the college. Depending on the severity of the case, the student may receive an "F" for the course. The instructor will decide whether plagiarism/cheating has occurred based on evidence, which includes but is not limited to, similar solutions from other authors, use of constructs/language beyond demonstrated capabilities or an inability to explain one's own work.
LATENESS
Due dates are clearly posted on Canvas. Students should distinguish between the due date (when it can be turned in without late penalty) and the final deadline (after which it will not be accepted). Some assignments may not allow lateness, such as discussions questions. Accepted late assignments incur a deduction of 0.5 points per day unless otherwise noted. Successfully submitting materials online by deadlines is the student's responsibility.

ATTENDANCE POLICY
Attendance is not to be graded; however, attendance will affect academic performance. Students are expected to attend all sessions. Whether present, absent, or tardy, the student is responsible for all material covered, announcements made, and assignments given/due during the session. Participation, which requires attending class sessions, may be considered when a student is bordering between two grades. When joining class sessions, please arrive on time to prevent disruption of the lecture.
MAKE-UP POLICY
No make-ups will be given unless the student provides written documentation justifying the missed deadline. Students who know they will miss a deadline should inform the instructor ahead of time. In unforeseen cases, the student should inform the instructor as soon as possible. After receiving documentation, the instructor will then decide whether a make-up is warranted based on the documented reason and timeliness of notification.
CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY
If the instructor must cancel an online session, students will be notified via the course mailing list, which connects with the student's Quincy College email. Cancelled sessions may be supplemented by material posted to the Canvas course page.
COMMUNICATION WITH INSTRUCTOR
The best means of communication is by email. You must use your school-issued email only.
Communications to the class will be made to this email rather than through the Inbox feature of Canvas. Be sure to check your college email frequently, including the Spam box associated with that e-mail. If you do not have a working Quincy College email account, please contact Information Technology at: itsupport@quincycollege.edu. See Student Handbook.
STUDENT ID CARDS
Students are required to carry a Quincy College ID card on their person at all times. Professors are authorized to request that a student leave the classroom if that student is unable to present a student ID.
