Do I Understand My Instructors?

1. Gather a copy of the syllabus for each class you are enrolled in this semester.

2. Without referring to the syllabus, describe what you think the instructor expects you to do to earn a high grade in this class.

3. Read the syllabus and underline each item in the outline that proves your assumptions regarding the instructor’s expectations.

4. Using a highlighter reread the syllabus. This time mark the expectations of the instructor even if they are items you’ve already noted.

5. Review your first description of the instructor’s expectations.

1. How does the description change after reading the syllabus?

1. What behaviors and comments does the instructor convey in the classroom that also indicate these expectations?

6. Apply this task to each course.
